DNA extraction from human saliva samples collected with the Oragene DNA self collection kit

Saliva is an excellent source of DNA for genetic testing. Cells are constantly released from the cheek and end up in a person’s saliva. In addition sample collection is quick, easy and non-invasive.

How to do it

Incubate the saliva samples at 50°C for 2h. Load 200µl of the sample in the GeneMole with MoleStrips DNA Blood Kit. Run the DNA Blood Protocol.

Results

  • Elution volume: 100 ul
  • Mean concentration: 59.4 ng/ul
  • DNA quality: (260/280): 1.84
